I am a new Westie owner, I rescued my Dog from a home where he developed a number of health problems and no-one helped him try to fix the problem let alone find a cause of the problem. I am happy and proud to say that He had a food allergy, that is now all cleared up and He now has a full body of fur and He is in very high spirits :)
My question is this:-
I want to breed my Dog, but after I spoke to our Vet, he said that the only way I could Stud Him out was to show Him. Is this true? I do not want to breed him for money, I want Him to father a litter of Puppies before I get Him 'done', because He is getting very 'fruity' with His bed at the moment, and I would love for Him to have experienced the finer things in life before the dreaded trip to the Vets.
So, how would I go about getting in touch with someone about this? Thank you very much for your time, and I look forward to hearing from you.

Congratulations of getting your dog healthy again :-) Using your dog at stud once is likely to cause more problems than it solves. Using him at stud and then getting him neutered is unlikely to stop him being 'fruity'. It would be kinder to neuter him before he gets to know what it is all about.

As others have said, Please please forget it. You are or will be only adding problems to future generations. I have to also say sadly I find it very irresponsible for your vet even if you did show him with success to not put you off breeding your dog after he has had health troubles. Breeding dogs should be in the interest of the breed not the detriment.

Well done getting him healthy but do you want any resulting puppies to have the same problems or worse? You will need to think about this but you would be responsible morally and legally for any health issues of puppies born by your dog knowing that he had health problems before using him at stud IF there was a conection.

He is best netured and left to enjoy him now healthy happy life.

Did you realise that castrated dogs can still mate and tie with a bitch? If he has experienced mating beforehand this is even more likely to happen. If you want to stop him getting 'fruity', don't let him experience the 'real thing'!

further more his allergy could all be part of an underlying problem you could be passing on to his puppies....how irresponsible would that be? :(
