Hi
My german Sheperd,Sally, scratches and bites at herself and I think that it is due to her food. Can anyone recommend any food for her.I live in Ireland so food that's availible in Ireland would be great!!!
Has anyone the same problem with their german shepherd?I've heard that Gilpa Kennel works but I don't know where I can get it in the midlands of Ireland. What company makes it or supplies it?
somebody PLEASE help!!!!

Hi

I have a GSD and I feed Burns. I have also heard good things about James Wellbeloved as both foods are both hypoallergenic and should stop any allergies relating to your GSD's food. I am not sure if they are available in Ireland but here are the links http://www.burns-pet-nutrition.co.uk and http://www.wellbeloved.com/ Don't forget to check for the other obvious things like maybe fleas or an allergy to your his / her bedding etc. I'm sure that it isn't either of those but you can never be sure!

Thanks

Hi
Thanks for your advice!
I have started feeding my GSD Burns now and she likes it!
I also checked out the JWD website. I filled out a form yesterday and they rang me today. They have a place where i can get their food in Ireland! so i can use that if Burns doesn't work.
Thanks again,
Colleen

Your dog's behaviour strongly suggests she may have an allergy. You can ask for her to be allergy tested by your vet; there is a specialist lab that carries out this. It is not cheap but you can get it is covered by insurance. The results will assist you in using a food that is appropriate for your dog instead of just haphazard guessing.

It is most than likely a protain allergy my GSD has the same thing. We feed her on Wafcol, which is wheat, barley, rye and gluten free and hypoallergenic, mixed with prize choice fish (not sure if you can get the fish in Ireland) she has been on this diet for 6 months and touch wood her skin has been great and her coat is lovely and soft.
go to www.wafcol.co.uk they maybe able to tell you if it is sold in Ireland i order my food from http://www.petcompany.co.uk/ If you live in northern Ireland then i think they will post to you but not southern Ireland.
James well beloved was not good fro my dog with an allergy or hills science park or eukaneba

Hope this helps a bit

More dogs are allergic to soya and wheat than anything else.

Hi Cordelia,
Thanks for your advice!
I got on to www.petcompant.co.uk but they can't send it to me in southern Ireland as it would cost far too much to post it!!!!!!
I'm trying my GSD Sally on Burns now so maybe it will work!!
Thanks again,
Colleen

Hi Colleen,
Have you tried Red Mills Leader. It has no nasty chemicals, and my lot love it. It comes from Ireland, so you should have no problems getting it.

We have a 5 year old gsd,who had all the same syptom's,as your's we took him to the vet's time and time again ,and told he had a flea allergy ,we spend hundred's ,trying to resolve this problem, to no avail .i then started to do a bit of research myself and found all his symptom's seemed to point to a gluten allergy,so of i went and bought wafcol gluten free, which did the trick, but we did find he was'nt really fussed on the food ,he is now feed on royal canin sensitive and has been for the last 3 year's and we have never looked back.Good luck:)
