Hi all,

I had a conversation with my vet this evening about puppy vaccinations, and how long the pup should be kept in after the second vacc.
The vet told me, that due to improved vaccinations, pups can be taken out straight after the second one as they still have immunity from the first.

I understand that these things are being improved all the time, but even so, I've always thought they should be kept in for a week after the second vac. Also, I know it varies from area to area....but I've never heard of this before....have any of you?
Any thoughts?

Thanks

Lisa

Yes, my puppies over the past twenty years have always walked out of the surgery following the second vaccination. My old wise sensible vet now retired said to do it in the first place.Nowadays the younger less experienced vets are seemingly more 'cautious'.Puppies need to be out and about, you can't be wasting so much time.
While I'm on the subject, I've just had two puppies vaccinated at a cost of £45.70 each!!!, and I feel thoroughly ripped off. I'm thinking of changing my vet!! Shame really after thirty years at the same place.

hi
i paid £45.25 to have my puppies vaccinated. i thought it was quite reasonable as i got free wormers and they get a free check up when there 6 months old

I can get my pups done for £25, but it is a very small surgery with few facilities. I would like to bet Ann that the free check in 6 months will include a conversation about neutering!!

Just had my pup done today and I asked the same and was told in a weeks time! Guess it depends on the vet. Mine cost £39.50
