My pup Bear is doing really well with housetraining but has suddenly started to pee when friends or strangers arrive.I know it's only excitement but would like to discourage it.I've asked friends to come to the back gate and greet her outside but any suggestions on how else to deal with this problem?
Thanks Tracy

Awh bless , Bear will grow out of it, you could try the ignore until she calms down & get visitors to say hello calmly & quietly method, my friend's male JRT is 10 & still weeing in excitement when he sees me, but he is unusual .It may also change when you start training classes as she will realize that not everyone is going to greet her & she get used to sees different people

It's the bladder control that has to develop

Or you could get everyone who calls to wear Wellies n waders :)(joking)

Yep!!! Moonmaiden has got it right,
When you or visitors first come in, a quick "hello Bear" with no cuddles or pats and then ignor him totally for 10 minutes or so.
When he has got used to you being there again, give him a little cuddle and a pat, but if he starts to get over excited, go back to square one, totally ignor for another 10 minutes. Keep on doing this, and he will soon get used to the idea that he will only get a fuss when you want to give it, not when he demands it.
Best of luck,
It is so hard to ignor that lovely little face with eyes that could melt an iceburg. Ahhrrrr!!!!!!
