We had a Cocker with Cushings a while ago - I couldn't touch her medication (Lysodren) without wearing gloves either. I understood this was because the tablets are highly toxic to humans, being used in cancer treatment to destroy cells. They work in Cushings patients by eroding the part of the adrenal gland which produces cortisone. Not sure if Vetoryl is the same as Lysodren but it sounds similar? Once we got our Cocker stabilised on the medication (which took quite a while), she did pretty well & lived to 15 years old, not bad considering :-)
Edited to say just found out that Vetoryl is a new drug so not the same as Lysodren. It doesn't look quite so toxic ;-) It says it blocks production of cortisone & also can block production of sex hormones, perhaps the reason why humans are advised to wear gloves!
