Hi there- I have 2 blue roan bitches aged 2 and 4 and I'm looking for a blue roan and tan or tan and black bitch puppy. I know they're hard to find so I'm hoping someone out there can help! I'm going to see one on sat but there is only 1 bitch and it's a 5 hr drive!!!!I live in wiltshire so has anyone got litters now or planned that are nearer to me? Please mail me at karen.le_gallez@virgin.net - thanks!!

Hi Karen
Nice to see you here :-) I think a 5 hour drive is pretty reasonable to locate either a blue [$ tan or black & tan pup, as you say neither are at all common colours, particularly black & tan. Just make sure the breeder is reputable & that both parents have had the recommended health tests (annual eye tests as a minimum) as health is so much more important than colour ]-)

Be careful - there are several commercial kennels & dealers in the Notts area who "churn out" Cocker puppies & advertise frequently in the free-ad papers & websites. Good breeders rarely need to advertise their pups (& are unlikely to use the free-ads media), relying instead on word of mouth recommendation & referrals by the Breed Clubs.

no i dident mean the paper i ment get the k club listing sometimes , yea i know about commercial breeding i already bought a cocker 13 yrs ago from what we thought was a old lady but turned out to be a puppy farm. unfortunaly she was a lovely dog in a bad body. her knees disintergrated when she was 6 months epilepsy all sorts of things. my current cocker came from the k club listing and her older sister came second in her group in cruffs about 4 yrs ago so shes ok .my freinds looking for a cocker one so i thought she might have a copy of the kc listing to look at, hope you find one soon

Well you have to be careful with the KC listings too sadly. It is no guarantee that a breeder is reputable just because they appear on the KC puppy sales register - the KC does not & never has vetted breeders so this is something all prospective enquirers have to do for themselves. Glad it worked out for you anyway :-) I didn't realise the KC included info about colours on their list - they don't have this info on the online list but perhaps they do on the list they send out by post.
(Edited to say the original poster Karen has found her black & tan puppy now)

yes the kc listing was sent to me a few times a man was sending me the list i think he was from birmingham or derby cant quite rember. its a real shame theres so many puppy farms fooling people into buying pups that are of bad quality.
