Pressure sores. I rub a little vasiline into it to soften the skin and the new hair then soon comes through. My Labradors also get in on the end of their tails caused by continually banging them against walls whilst wagging them.

These hard "scabs" or "callous'" are called bursa's and are quite common in the Mastiff world, sadly my big boy has developed very large bursa's on his front elbows. I have tried the vaseline in the past and sadly it did not work, I've also tried peppermint oil and massaging with hot damp towels - the hot damp towels did seem to have some effect. The only thing you can do to prevent them getting worse is to force your Bully to lie on something soft - easier said than done I know ! One of the worst culprits is modern carpet which has a high nylon content. One thing I must stress though ugly though they are is not to have them surgically removed as this will cause more probs.they are there for a reason and that is to protect the joints. Good luck, hope your bully's bursa's don't get too big.
