I am buying a shih tzu puppy from a friend, I know both the mother and father, and they are wonderful dogs, with the best temperaments, and are fantastic with my three children, but I was just wondering if it really matters if we choose a boy or girl, as I am having different advice from everyone. We want a boy, but we keep getting told that the girls will be better with children, even though their dad is a right softy. Help, we want what is best for the pup and our children.

If you want a boy, choose a boy. Dogs can be big softies, and not all bitches are girly. So go for what you want. Good luck!
