Hi,

Has anyone else suffered from this? I would appreciate some advice! MY 17 month old Irish Red Setter has just been diagnosed. He has been sprayed by the vet with Frontline. It seems to have stopped him itching but still has the scabs? Any advice?

Cheers

Hi,

One of my beardies had these when she was a puppy (she is now 12.5 years old and never had it since) and we treated it using a shampoo called "Saleen" which we use for the mites in guinea pigs. It worked a treat, but needed a couple of goes.

Good luck

Thornit is excellent for harvest mites. You could also try bathing the paws in garlic juice.

Ill go searching for that stuff and hopefully keep them away! especially with the garlic

Thanks

Oddly enough i was on work experience at a local vets last week and we had a dog come in with 'flea like mites' turned out they were harvest mites, the best thing to do is treat the dog (like you have) with frontline (or anyother flea/mite treatment) and then regually give a good groom, the mites dry up and the scabs will come out with the groom too :)

If you start bathing the dog the scabs and dead mites can get tangled in the fur, a good groom once a day will soon have them all brushed out :)

Thanks for that.. luckily i never bathed him and I just kept on brushing him and now all the scabs have cleared up! So now he is silky smooth again!!

Cheers
