I just painted Tiva and T-Bone's nails a pretty pink and blue on front and back feet I was bored. This would not be harmful to them in any way would it, if so I'll take it off right away? Just wondering how many other people have done this? No I'm not a freak its the first time I have done this, just wanted to see what it would look like. They don't seem to mind. Mind you it will probably rub off as soon as they are outside running around. :D

The Body Shop don't make nail varnish as they can't make it without all the harmful chemicals etc. personally I would chip it off, wouldn't fancy using nail varnish remover :(

Errrmmmm,....why on earth would you want to paint their nails?????

We were in Harrods in London last week and in their pet department they were selling dog nail polish as well as wedding dresses (for dogs). The pups they were selling were lovely though £700 for a yorkie seems a lot!

How awful! Poor dogs. A wedding Dress!!??
Pity Harrods sell pups..Its not exactly an ideal environment.

Like I said I was bored......Because I wanted too and my daughter wondered what they would look like, mind you it didn't show up much and is pretty much rubbed off anyhow, you have to really look to see it.

Yes they are dogs but that doesn't stop people making them all prim and proper and putting stuff in their fur so it will hold, or how about some of those hair cuts just to prance them around a show ring. I think a dog would much more enjoy doing what they like, they were never ment to be our fashion models.

Really if you look at both sides here their isn't really much of a difference.....I say if it doesn't hurt the dog then enjoy your pet.....They also sell perfume for dogs, little bowtyes to put in the hair, and some people even go as far as to putting earings in their ears.

I think what I did wasn't so bad, not something I would do again...Hey sorry for ever posting it in the first place...All I wanted to know was if it was harmful to them, thank you to the one person that answered me :)

I wouldn't have thought it was bad as I know people who use varnish on pups to distinguish them apart.

I don't think they put it on the nails though Lucy :D Probably somewhere where they can't lick - do dogs have a place they can't reach to lick?!
- By Jeangenie [gb] Date 02.09.03 16:07 UTC
The bitch can reach to lick anywhere on her pups, chaliepud!

Definitely a good reason not to use it then! :)

Hi,
In the days when I used to be into breeding Persians, if the litter was all one colour, it was quite common for breeders to put a bit of coloured nailpolish on kitten's nails, so as to be able to distinguish between them - as the polish dries very quickly, there's not really a risk of it being licked off.

if your going to take it off with remover please use non acetone remover or you will take all the oils out of the nail .well this is a first for me advicing on dogs wearing nail polish. haha oh well have fun i say. i know that robinsons a horse retailers do horse nail polish surely that must be ok to use on dogs. they have glittery ones to haha.
