Topic Dog Boards / Visitors Questions / Stripping Coat Of Border terrier
- By guest [gb] Date 01.09.03 13:26 UTC
Can you please help and advise about my 7month old border terrier,
he has alot of oxcroft on the dam and sire generations where
he has at the present a long and thick red and black (Grissle)
coat, all the other borders I have seen and met have either had
their coat stripped or just naturally short and wirey coat.
Is it a Kennel Club or organisation/Judges preferrence for the coat to be
stripped or is this just a owners preferrence.

Please respond to steve.walters-smith@interserveprojects.com

Kind Regards

For the dogs comfort, he should be stripped when he needs it. Regardless of his breeding, coats will need doing albeit at different times depending on how fast it grows. It is not a requirement of the KC or anyone else, but if you show your dog, you will need to strip it and keep it presentable for showing.
Dawn.
