I have a Westhighland White Terrier. sired by Ch.Ashgate Sinclair. He will be 6 in Sept.
I would like to mate him with a suitable Bitch, in order to have one of his puppies.(As an addition to our Family). We regretted not mating our last Westie.
How do I go about finding a suitable Bitch, ? We live in Swansea South Wales, and there is a lack of GOOD dogs in this area.

Hi Guest.

I think it is very common to want a puppy from your dog, however it is more simpler to buy another puppy. Most people when looking for a suitable stud dog will generally look for one that has a good show history sometimes a champion but not always. It would need to have relavant health checks such as eye tests. In my honest opinion at 6 years I would leave him now and not introduce him to stud work.

The Ashgate line is a very very successful line and maybe if you even contacted them they could recommend someone who has puppies due from a Sinclair son or daugther ( I can give you their details) . 3 out of 4 of my dogs are grandchildren of Sinclair from different parents. He is not just a fantastic dog but is also a fantastic producer so was used favourably by quite a few breeders. My point is it may not be to hard if you are prepared to wait for the right litter from a good breeder to get a puppy related to Sinclair without using your own dog.

If you like mail me and I can give you a few numbers of people I know of if you are interested to go that alternative route.

Pam
