hello, when our puppies did that we used to yelp out as if we were really hurt and they used to stop suddenly as they knew they had hurt us.When they got out of hand we used to have some "TIME OUT" SESSIONS AND they were put in their cages and given time to think and calm down. Also try distraction and offer the pup a toy or a treat so that they understand that a hand or ankle is not as exciting. Why dont you also try clicker training, books and clickers are available at most good pet stores, this training method has helped many people and helps reward acceptable behaviour!! good luck

One of the methods you can use is to ignore the behaviour & walk away & do not acknowledge the puppy until the behaviour stops then reward the puppy for not nipping etc

Cages should not be used as a punishment & if you can leave the room do so. When you reward the puppy do it calmly & quietly.

Shouting does not work neither does slapping(not suggesting that are you slapping your puppy) An adult dog will not slap a younger one neither do they bark at puppies :) They ignore them-hence adult dogs can be seen to allow puppies to nip & pull at them with no response, but when they do play they tend to start it

I have a very alpha GSD bitch who allows my little dogs to take great liberties but when she has had enough she growls in a non nasty way & walks away-they do not follow her

Nipping & non aggressive growling is all part of a puppies development
