i have a golden retriever pup who is 9 weeks old and will not go to the toilet on the newspaper that we put down for him am i just being impatient and expecting too much or is there something i can do, i give plenty of praise when he does it right etc etc help???

Was your puppy house-reared or kennel reared? Many breeders don't encourage their puppies to use newspaper, but use woodshavings instead. It's best if you can avoid training him to use newspaper, and just train him to "go" outside instead, because it's much easier to avoid the newspaper stage if you can - after all, you are going to have to train him not to use newspaper in the end!
