For many years breeding Roughs to Smooths collies used to be accepted dated back to the early days when the Smooths gene pool was low and needed a boost after the war a practice which is now stoped.
How ever there are still Roughs popping up in Smooth litters but have to be Reg as Smooths years ago when the KC allowed the two the coats to be crossed the offspring in each litter was Reg to the coat eg smooth coats as Smooth collies and long coats as Roughs.
The point im trying to make is now all pups in the litter have to be REG as Smooth regardles of coat so you can now get a Smooth rough collie!!!!!!
So where do they fit in now?they are rough collies !!
As to the other breeds with the non eceptable colours they are still the Breed but of a non-aceptable colour.
