Has anyone put a bitch on antibiotics in the run up to mating? I have tried to mate my bitch every 6 months since she was two, she is now six, so it is probably the last time i'll try her, people have mentioned that they put their bitch on antibiotics as soon as they come into season, and bitches that haven't fell pregnant before have! Anyone got any views on this

both my girls were put on antibiotics for the first 7 days and all 3 mating took another think the bitch could pass on a infection to the stud dog then he gos off and mates another bitch and pass on the infection so i am in agreement to this,owning bitches and a stud dog.

HI, haver you ever had her swabbed for infection before mating? Have you always tried with the same dog? I dont mean to be unkind - but 6 is too late in my opinion for a first litter. If you are going to try again, and she does conceive be aware you could have problems. It must be very disappointing, but I would give up and buy yourself a nice puppy rather than try and breed one from her now.
