I'm hoping that someone can help me. I've just moved to Thornton, Bucks. with my two dogs, and I need to find a good place for them when I go away for a few days. I would prefer someone who could look after them in their own home, but if that fails, a good dog kennel has to do. I find it very stressful to put them in a kennel, but sometimes it can't be helped, so I would appreciate if anyone knows of good places, or even places to stay clear of. Thanks a lot!

There are agencies around who specialise in having a person or couple who stay in your home and look after your dogs while you are away. I think they are called Animal Aunts, another is Housesitters? I know they advertise in the dog press Dog World or Our Dogs which are weekly newspapers. I'll try and find a copy. You have the advantage that your dogs are looked after as you would like but in their own home. If you choose a kennel do go there and check it out first so that your own mind is at rest.
