Hi Michelle,
Glad you've got him eating, fussy little devils aren't they! My mum has just got an 18 month old cavalier bitch who was supposed to love tripe, but has refused to eat anything but fresh chicken since her arrival. After reading the discussion on raw chicken wings i gave Lewy and my yorkie, buffy, one each yesterday outside in the garden. It was amazing to watch, they both really enjoyed them!
Are you using a collar and lead with Harvey, as I have now been converted to harnesses. I started the yorkie on one because i couldn't find a half chain/webbing collar small enough and she really took to it, so i decided to get one for Lewy (canac size 1) and i must say its the easiest lead training i have ever done. I put the harness on him for a few minutes the first day, then the next day i clipped on the lead and off we went! Maybe i've just been very lucky with lewy, but i also wander whether its because he hasn't got the tugging sensation on his neck, though he will have to get used to a lead too as we start ringcraft classes tomorrow!
Hope things continue to go well with Harvey

Hi Erin
That's something i might think about investing in :) harvey just doesn't like his lead at all, we end up having to pull him along (which i really don't like doing) :( Or he just refuses to walk he'll just sit stern on the path way! I want him to enjoy his walks rather than hate them!!
The Canac size1, is that just a puppy size? or is it ample enough for them to grow into?
Harvey is malting a lot at the moment, i understand they normally malt 2-3 times a yr. Are you having the same problem with Lewy?
The raw chicken sounds good, think i might also be trying that on my little boy!! :)
Good luck with the ringcraft classes tomorrow.
Hope things continue to go well with Lewy!!

Hi Michelle,
I got the harness from my local co-op and it only cost about £3, as they're closing the pet section. The size 1 does expand to quite a large size, but i was concerned that the webbing was quite narrow and would dig in as he got bigger, so i got my mum to get the size 2 harness for me as that was only £4. However the size difference between 1 and 2 is quite big, i'm not sure lewy will ever fit into the size 2! Lewy has lost most of his puppy fluff now, i'm not leaving the house covered in quite so much fur as i was! His coat is looking quite fine now, you can see new spots coming through too. His ringcraft went quite well, he got to meet lots of dalmations and by the end of the evening he was moving rather well, though not really got the hang of standing on the table or at the end of moving, but for his first time i was rather impressed with him.
I would try Harvey with the raw chicken, its definately becoming a favourite with my two!
Hope to speak to you soon.

Hi Erin
Glad your ringcraft class went well for Lewy :)
Harvey has definitely lost all of his puppy fluff too, and it's now growing long and fine though he's malting still so i'm forever brushing his hairs off everything..LOL.
Well i invested in a harness for him, i didn't go for one that goes around his mussle just one that fits around his legs and back. He's well into his 'walkies' now!! and getting better on the lead every day. We've taken him to the local field numerous times and he loves it can't believe how fast he can run for a puppy.
Do you find you can't really go anywhere fast? where ever we go people are always stopping us constantly and cooing over him :) Think that's probably because he's still a cute little puppy, once he grows into an adult i doubt many people will notice him.
Oh will be trying the raw chicken soon. He's into Polo's at the moment!! (least he'll have a fresh breath...LOL)
Hope things continue to go well with Lewy!!
Hope to hear from you soon

Hi Michelle,
What a little cutie! I've got loads of pictures of Lewy, which i'm planning to scan into the computer so i'll e-mail you a couple. Glad Harvey's taken to his harness, they do seem to take to them much quicker than a collar and lead. Lewy is now walking on a normal collar and lead though, as the people at ringcraft thought it might confuse him to be swapping between a harness and a show lead. My poor little boys not been well this weekend, we had to pay a saturday morning visit to the vets (they know when to pick their time!) as he had been chucking up, the vet thinks it was just a puupy bug, but i wanted him checked on as he and Buffy, my yorkie, have a thing about playing with stones! He is a lot better now though, keeping food down at last.
Is your little boy a screamer as far as injections goes? Lewy is the biggest wimp i have ever known! He screamed the place down when he had his vaccinations. On Saturday he had a jab in his back leg, had a little wimper but was fine. But he had to go back for another jab on sunday morning, which he had in the scruff of his neck. Well, you would have thought the vet had tried to jkill him! I have never heard anything like it, and he would not shut up! I put him on the floor, he screamed, i tried cuddling him, he screamed, it took a good five minutes before he shut up. So any future jabs have to go in his back leg (supposed to be far more painful than in the scruff of the neck!) and i have to warn the waiting room that he's a screamer, bless him!!
Hope to hear from you soon, it's great to be able to compare notes and swap stories with a fellow cavalier lover!
