Topic Dog Boards / Visitors Questions / Breeders - Does a small puppy remain so?
- By guest [gb] Date 25.08.03 11:28 UTC
In your experience does the smaller puppy or puppies in a litter (compared to their litter brothers and sisters at 6-8 weeks old) remain on the small size to adulthood, or do they sometimes excel as they get a bit older? I am not referring to the so called 'runt of a litter' but general comparisons between them.

Would be interested to learn your experience and comments regarding this.

Grateful thanks.

In most cases they catch up.

I agree with Jackie in most cases they do catch up. One of my Spanish was lovely and small when she was a pup but now she's on the male end of the size scale, in other words she's BIG!!

Usually once they start eating well by themselves they will tend to catch up. Not always the case but no guarantees!

You can never tell. The smallest in my last litter is now one of the biggest, and the biggest puppy is now smaller than his brothers;)
