a companion show...but he was against 15 other pups!!
I'm well chuffed!! So proud of my boy (he's a 9 month GSD)
His behaviour was amazing...why can't he be like that at home?!!
It's great....the area I live in (Ceredigion), we have lots of companion dog shows
during July and August...all the locals take their dogs and the local breeders take their young dogs too, it's a good time for a get together and a drink! I honestly couldn't believe the applause my boy got when he got best puppy though.
What a fantastic crowd of people!! and an brilliant day....have to admit, we cracked open the champagne....
I know it was just a companion show.....but lovely nonetheless, certainly as we weren't expecting it!!
Just had to share my news!
Take care all
Lisa

What was he in- the pedigree class or general class? It sounds like a good day out:) It's great even when it's only companion shows- you're obviously proud of your boy and it's lovely to hear others who like them too:) It always makes me feel like a proud Mum in the street when someone compliments my GSD bitch- never mind at the shows:) Though when someone came round and saw the rosettes at first- I'd go into great detail about it went, describe the class from start to finish etc, probably bored them stupid but I liked it:D These days with a few more under my belt I just puff out my chest, stand tall and do the biggest cheesyest grin:D
Congratulations and be thankful he did behave- you'd rather him play you up at home rather than infront of a huge crowd:)

Recon that’s a good start to a showing carreer, very well done.

Congrats :D That was Hudson first ever show result too , made my day for him to be picked out from amongst quite a few other pups as BPIS (that was June last year , our first show and a Companion Show too ;) )
Well done :)

Well done!! It can be quite hard to win at these shows I know, as there are usually at least 2 or3 really good dogs (Crufts qualified) entered and then all the pets following on behind!!! I live fairly near you and went to Clynderwen on Saturday, but I didn't see any GSD's. Could you tell me what exemption shows are on near us over the next couple of weeks within a 30 mile radius of Cardigan or Whitland?
There are usually schedules at one show, for the next ones coming up but there were none on the table on Saturday. I am having fun with my Lab, Sat was her first show ( we got a 2nd !!) and she really enjoyed it, so I would like to visit more. If you see me at a show you'll know its me - as the judge tries to go over her she lays down on her back for a tummy tickle!! I haven't had her long and I think she was trained to sit/lie if you touch her anywhere along her back. I think I'll have to get a clicker!!

Thanks everybody!!
It's so great to have people to share our good news with!
For Westielover....
I don't know of many companion shows coming up.
There is Llangeitho Agricultural and horticultural show tomorrow (Wednesday 27th) It has a companion dog show as well, with the usual 4 pedigree classes.
And on Saturday 30th, there is Llandewi Brefi show...I've never been to it, but I imagine that's an agricultural show too.
Afraid that's all I know of.
If I hear of any more I'll either post on here, or e.mail you.
Take care, and thanks again everybody!!

Well done!
And it's not JUST a companion dog show win, I've seen some fabulous puppies at companion shows, who go on to great things, and some top champ show judges judging them.
And besides, they're great fun and good practice for the show scene!
