Can I just ask how many of you stick to breed shows and how many do both ??? ( ie breed and mixed shows)
I have heard a few people lately saying " Oh I'm only doing breed shows now" whereas at the moment I am doing both with Gus .
Are there any advantages/disadvantages to either ??
We are doing both more for experience and so Gus feels comfortable in the ring but I would like everyones views please ... :)

If those of us in the minority breeds stuck to breed shows only we would not show often. the same if we only wnet to chasmp shows with CCs.

We have one national breed club, and a Scottich breed club that hold a championship show and an Open show each.

I do both. I actually prefer the all-breed shows. Sometimes I feel at breed shows because I have not been showing long enough that I have less of a chance of winning. This is NOT a 'facey' comment, this is just fact - breeders who have been in a long time are showing great dogs and therefore have the better chance of winning. A lot of them will come long distances to breed shows, however for all-breed shows there may be only the few who are closest.

On the other side breed shows can be fun - I love to be surrounded by so many of the same breed, I can learn by watching the 'pros' do their stuff, and the shopping is so much better ;) It also gives me a chance to catch up with the odd person that I don't usually see at shows down here.

There are advantages to both - I think it's whatever you're happy with. But if you're new - it pays to go to all the shows you can for experience both for you and for your dog.
