hi, i am going to look at some puppy labs tonight, the father has been hip scored, but the mother hasnt, is this a bad thing, should i be worried

YES! it is VERY bad thing!! i would not even go to look at them if the dam has not been scored, both parents should be scored and be equal to or less than the breed average. not sure what it is for labs but i am sure someone else can tell you,

Average for Labs is 16

Bad hips can be inherited from either parent so YES its a bad thing.
I would Look else where for a pup with both parents that are hip scored
