I have tried light food, reducing her food but my dog just cannot loose weight, she is about 2kgs over according to the vet but how can I get her to shift this when nothing seems to work. The vet mentioned reducing right down and adding boiled rice but will this work and how much rice.
Can anyone help me here.

I changed my two dogs over to Naturediet (Not the lite version - yet!) about a month ago, one of them seems to be looking a little trimmer already, we're off to the Vets this morning, so will check to see when I am there

Good Luck!

I would give half normal food and half plain boiled wholegrain cooked rice (well rinsed with nearly boiling water after cooking to get rid of extra starch, dont add salt) by volume. If there are no health problems and the dog is adult I would up the exercise by 25-50%. It the same for them as for us - less calories and more exercise!! and no treats.

My Irish setter bitch ,Jess ,was overweight by about 10 pounds. Nothing was working. I cut back on her kibble to cups and added the following: 1/2 cup of cooked green beans, cooked carrots, shredded wheat biscuit(one of the big ones) and lowfat yogurt on top-mixed with a little chicken broth.Cut the kibble in half and replaced basically with no calorie or low calorie items that made her feel full!

She lost 10 pounds!

Hope this helps!

Thanks everyone I will try some of the suggestions and hopefully see a leaner springer.

More exercise and less food, more exercise, more exercise, less food - sadly nothing else seems to work.
