Go to a few shows and look for the type of GSD you are looking for many year ago there was the two schools the German type and the English type the German being more roached or dare I saw bananna back !!
There are still the old type around but have to look out for them Red rum and the good old swashbuckler comes to mind.
Go the the breeder page on here and search out the type you like there is no such thing has working type has all shapards can work.
Good luck

The "straight-backed" ones were the old-fashioned English "Alsatians" (judging by old photos), which have not been seen for many years....

Hi I meant when I said about straight backed dogs that if you are going by breed standard they all are supposed to have a gently sloping topline not straight not humpy, without dip or roach straight backed dogs to me are like rotts etc thats what I meant, although you do see some shepherds that are neither here or there, my shepherds arent roached nor do they have dippy backlines, just a gentle slope hope this clears this up, in reply to the 1st post it should have been worded differently, when they said straight thats what I thought they meant STRAIGHT you know like level didn,t know we were going on about the different types again

Well we breeders know our dogs and know the right wording to use but to most outsiders one wrong word sets everyone off.Has you know owning a GSD to an outsider to the breed there is a bendy back and the level sloping which compaired the the other looks stright I think this is wot the org post ment?
On another post the was some one looking for a West Ireland white now if you hear someone say Highland it can sound like Ireland II
A simple mistake there are other breeds that appear in adds with strange names but most of us know wot they mean a few I have seen appear are
shit sue, cooker, lap soo ,west tea, see how words that sound like well know breeds can get mixed up?
