Could be fungal infection could be any number of things, have to say even vets find skin problems difficult to sort and on the web we have no chance.

Hi Stephen, a friends dog had this problem, we found out it was due to being bored, we got her a friend to play with and thankfully the problem was no longer there. Not sure if this is what is wrong with your dog though, but hope things work out.

Hi Stephen

Something similar happened to my Flatcoat after she was spayed. The vets did numerous tests, and they all came back with nothing. Is your dog stressed at the moment by anything. As that was all they could suggest for Libbys dramatic hairloss. Thankfully it's all growen back now.

Good luck and hope the vet can find the solution for you.

Hiya,

It could be any number of things.

There's a thing called lick granuloma, where a dog licks/ chews at certain spots continually....this causes hair loss, and the skin will become infected.
It's rather like nail biting in humans, and can be due to stress, or boredom.
You'll only find this in area's that the dog can reach though!!

There are also lots of allergies which could be causing it....hayfever, is certainly a problem for some dogs at this time of year. It doesn't affect dogs in the way it does humans....it causes lots of itching in dogs.
There are food allergies as well......it could be anything, so a vet visit is definitely in order.

Hope everything goes ok

Take care

Lisa
