Hi i bought my gsd male pup on thursday he was ten weeks to the day,the breeder has been feeding pedigree complete softened down with water.Since he has been home its been really hard to get him to eat anything much so we put him in a crate at meal times so he wouldnt be distracted as he kept nibbling bits then running off to play,he still nibbles and wont seem to eat a full meal in one go which is a cupful each time i tried mixing in tinned butchers tripe which helped a bit but gave him the runs!He went to the vets today and she agreed with me that he was a bit ribby and so she weighed him and he is 6.5 kgwhich i think is small for a 10week gsd pup especially a male we have a 3 year old female whom we got at 8 weeks and she was 9kg and a healthy eater and always has been the vet suggested adding cooked chicken which we did tonight but he just picked this out although i mixed it in really well!We are at a loss for what to do as he seems happy and lively so he is obviously just being fussy and although we have always had large breeds can honestly say we never had one like this, any suggestions would be great, thanks.
P.S will try and register again in a minute as i tried before but didnt have enough cookies or something????

Hope you found your cookies - those chocolate chip ones can be ellusive!!

Sounds to me like he's just taking a while to settle in. Its normal for a pup to lose their appetite for a few days after being rehomed so I wouldnt worry about it too much. If you want to change food then Im not the best person to advise on diets but my pup has recently been on Hills Prescription ID which settled his tummy in hours - your vet has to give you this though. Any changes to his diet should be made REALLY slowly or his tummy will get upset - give him time to settle in, read up on what diet YOU think would suit him (theres plenty info on here in previous threads) and then change him over slowly.

Good luck! :)

Hi, I think a change of home and routine is causing your puppy to be like this, its not uncommon for any pup to go off its food for a few days, I would stick to the food that you have been using and gradually he/she will come around once they settle in, you say that he/she is a bit ribby when was the last time they were wormed, In regard to the food again though I wouldn,t be adding all kinds of things to it to tice him eat it, try him with it if its not eaten lift it up and try later on, gradually he will learn I better eat it now, or else I do without, obviusly if there is a medical reason thats a different story but I think its just the change thats doing it, what are his bloodlines andwhere did you get him from
