Hi,
I have an 18 month old Elkhound who refuses to show.He is consistantly placed at champ level but has no 'sparkle' what so ever which is frustating since I wonder what he would do if he 'performed'.He moves ok but stands like a bag of s*** for want of a better way of putting it.
I've thought of maybe trying one of the suppliments you see advertised in the dog papers thats supposed to help-anybody tried them???
Alternatively I wonder if it might help giving him a complete break(we don't show that often-5 champ shows this year + 5 open)-if it might help how long a break should I give him??
Lastly thought about changing his food to something with more protein???He seems very lack-lustre but then he could be just layed back???
Any thoughts please-I think he could do well if only he would show!!!
Archer.

Have you thought of doing something else like obedience with play training with him ? Agility etc

Might be he needs to have something to stimulate his little grey cells

I'm sure he will be biddable & enjoy another form of canine pursuit & that would have a knock on effect on his breed showing i used to do it with my working dogs
