You don't do it by time of year, just when they need it. Depends on the dog. I have a Border that I can strip every 8 weeks, the other two much longer, one grows very slow, one grows very quick. When the coat is ready to come out it will pull very easily.

I also do mine when they need it, although try to not strip past nov if I can help it as they are working dogs and need the coat protection from the cold weather in these parts!. you can now get a video with a lady called Mrs Irving stripping a borders coat if you are a more watch than read person, not sure if your local stockist will have such a thing but if not try the Ourdogs website as I know they have it on the stall at the shows

Can the dogs breeder not help you? Mine work too Borders, but I still strip them. Horses for courses............
