Hi
Just wondering, but is it ok to give bits of dog food as treats, instead of buying things in packets?

Liver cake is brilliant for when you want that extra attention as dogs love it. For my recipe i use 1lb or chicken liver, 1 lb of flour, 3 eggs, 2 cloves of garlic, a little milk and a little oil. You liquidise the liver, eggs, milk, garlic, oil and milk. (Looks rather disgusting though.) Then you mix it with the flour, as if baking a cake. I then put it in a microwavable dish and microwave it for 10 minutes. Once it is slightly cool you simply cut it into cubes and either freeze it or put some into the fridge ready for use. Once it is cooked it doesn't smell too bad, and it is easy to break into small pieces. It resembles the consistancy of an unrisen cake, but i've yet to meet a dog that doesn't want to die for it though. You do have to make sure you reduce their normal food slightly though. My older dog also lives frankfurter sausages.
I use all sorts from cheese to pepperoni (very yukky after an hour of agility on Monday!!!), really anything on offer on the deli counter or left over, eg kids sausages
