Hi,
I have an 11+ yr old rescue dog who I have lived with for 7 years. He was badly mistreated before he ended up in rescue and stayed with the rescue for 2 years as a few people rehomed him without success. His behaviour is very aggressive at the vets (and if anyone tries to touch areas of his body). To save the ordeal of a vets visit I wondered if anyone knew of a treatment for warts.
He has a small bobbly type wart on top of his head which I would happily leave alone but whenever he rolls on his treats (which he tends to do to show his approval most of the time) he seems to be knocking the wart and it bleeds a little forming a scab - which again gets knock off when he rolls or catches it.
I have seen on the net some products which state they can treat warts - one is Ekoneem and the other Colloidal Silver - but am not sure if either of these are any good nor if they just treat rather than get rid of the wart.
Could anyone help with advice?
Thanks!

I would get a sedative from the vets, or take him and ask the vet to come and see him in the car (when its cooler!). You need to be sure its a wart - wart treatment is very powerful, and if it isn't a wart it could cause a lot of problems... HTH :)
Hi Tina
Do you have someone with a good digital camera so that you could take a photo and show it to the vet - not all wart looking growths are warts - especially when then bleed.
Would he let the vet look at it if he was in the car park with you holding him (or even the street outside if you have an understanding vet then if he does need treatment he could have something to knock him out before you take him in.
Good luck with it
Old fashioned remedies for warts:
saliva
banana skins - put a small piece of banana skin on the wart with a plaster over it

Another old fashioned remedy.. which I have never tried...
place a piece of bacon rind over the wart for a night and then bury the rind in the garden! :D
I sympathise with your dog having a wart, my old lab is prone to getting them around her eyes. She had one grow under her upper eyelid, it was really irritating for her. It was surgically removed.

Hi
I have successfully used Wartner, it freezes the wart and within about 10 days or so begins to shrink. My dog has a very similar wart on the top of his head too and thats what I am using.
