We just had our August open show and my Elkhound Jasmie got reserve (2nd) in Hound Group. Best she's ever done! (even whilst heavily moulting) That's our third show up to now. We also got through to best Junior in Show.

She is the only one who shows in Jersey which is unfortunate. The judge asked if I showed in the UK, but I don't. He is judging the UK's Breed Clubs show coming up.

Well I just wanted to boast because she was really well behaved (until the end!) but it was a long and hot day.

I am looking forward to my Jozi's litter in September and having a new puppy to show next year!!!

Is there any chance that you could get over to some UK shows with someone who comes over to the mainland? The ones with CCs (the ones that you can Crufts qualify from) for Elkhounds are Bath on the last may bank Holiday Monday, Windsor first days of July, and Richmond in the first week of September.

Our club Open show that you spoke of is on 27th September near Coventry in the Midlands. The Championship show is near the end of April at the same place.

Thanks I was well chuffed. Normally she gets 4th in Group, but to get Reserve amongst all the other hounds I was shocked. Normally she automatically gets put through to group because she is the only one in AV, but this time she had some competition in AV. Which makes it feel a bit more of a challenge.

I know some people that go to the mainland, but not really well enough to tag onto. I know you can qualify for crufts over here, but I'm not sure what you have to win. We do have a Channel Island Dog of the Year show, which is next Feb I think. I think she will be in it because she got best group puppy in March so I assume she goes into it. Then maybe she could qualify for Crufts.

I'd like to go to even just the breed shows or hound shows, just to visit and see. I've never driven in the mainland so that is the only thing putting me off. How do you find out about all different shows in the UK?

Dessie from Guernsey here :D :D You did do very well to get a 2nd in the Group as the Hounds are quite stiff competition with ticket winners etc.

If there are every any Cocker Spaniel Shows or Champ Shows where Gundogs and Hounds are on at the same time let me know and I will be more than happy to come over with you. I've only drive in the UK once that was when I went up to Crufts with Douglas in March :D :D Quite scarey to start off with but you soon get the hang of going over 35 miles an hour :D :D

Jackie, Thanks. The breeder is from the Shetland, Mrs Polson. I don't think they show. Well not that I know of.

Dessie, Thanks. No haven't maybe Guernsey should be my next step before going to the UK. It would be ideal going over to the UK with someone. It be a good jolly!!!!!!!!

To qualify for Crufts at the Open Shows in Jersey & Guernsey you either need to win Best in Show or Reserve Best in Show. Channel Island Dog of the Year is just all the Group Winners from all the Jersey & Guernsey Shows competing against each other.
