we have two pure bred shelties and we have been hoping that they would breed but it has been a few years now with no luck. do you have any advice on how we might be able to help them along? they have no problem going into heat and etc they just dont seem to know how to do it!

Hi guest,
This seems very strange, and without more details it will be very hard to advise you. Perhaps you could register with us and then you can go into more detail.

Depends upon how old your dogs are. I know someone in Stafford who's brilliant at mating dogs. We tried for years to mate one of our dogs and now at nearly 6 years of age he's a daddy!!

Perhaps you should try using an experianced stud on the bitch. It may be conveniant to own both dam and stud but it is not always the best from the pups produced point of view and sometime the dog will think it is not right for him to mate your bitch, if you see what I mean. It has been know for a dog that has been punished for play mounting to not want to mate a bitch when adult and it could be that the dog views the bitch as not being a suitable mate for him, and that you would be angry if he tried.
