I know there is a lot of time spent ensuring puppies are not to cold. But i am really worried about my litter being to HOT. they are currently kept in my outhouse/laundry type room but i live in a mobile home so it is really hot in this weather. i have the door and windows open and they appear to be panting a little but i dont know what else to do. I have put an upright fan next to the box to try and circulate the air but all that really does is move the hot air around. Any ideas on what i could do or are they quite happy to be warm??? I am scared that they may overheat!!! Please help any advice welcome

Freeze a couple of bottles of water and place them in one end of the puppy room so they can choose where they want to sleep. Make sure they are under blankets (the bottles not the puppies lol) and it should reduce the temperature of the room.

They are still very hot and i think mum is rluctant to get in and feed them aswell as she is also over heating any other ideas?? Is it ok to put a fan over them??

gives then bowls of crushed ice too....it cools them off quick...i even mixed crushed ice in their dry food.....they love it......heat is dangerous to puppies.....they also have these cooloing pads that you can order they stay cool somehow? they are about 50 -70 bucks but well worth it.....its like a little water bed for them.......most catalogs carry them

how old are the puppies? cant you just gently trickle some water over them every so often or wrap a cool damp cloth round then every hour or so the fan should cool them down. You can cool the mum down by filling a plastic dog bed with cool water and standing her in it or hosing her down.
you could try your vet to see if there is anything he recomends

A lot of people are buying the rigid kiddy pools and letting their dogs in there.

Hi the pups are only 14days old, and they seem to be ok with the fan on them i just worry as they are so young and my outhouse is like an oven, I have a paddling poolin the garden and a pond but mum runs a mile from water (except drinking). I have thought of putting the pups box in my father inlaws shed/workshop which is nice and coolish but it is very open to our male dog and cats etc, and i was worried that mum might not like them to be moved????

When I had a litter and they were real hot and mom (the pups whined), I got an icecream pail and filled it with cool water then I soaked a cloth (squeezed the water out) and rubbed every puppy down (they stopped crying) and mom. I did this about every half hour to hour depending on them and they were only 10 days old. While mom was feeding them I still rubbed them down at the same time her and the pups. I even got one of those ice packs out of our freezer put a towel around it and the pups layed on that. The temp. got hotter so I had to put them all in the basement since it was cooler down their and we spent most of our summer down their with them, wished I thought of that sooner. :( Icecubes worked great since the mom would gobble them up.

ttfn :)
