My Bassett is scared of going through the dog flap. She will only go through if I hold the flap open. Any suggestions to help us get her through. We have tried all the usual tricks with treats.

Thanks

Hi
Some dogs try to go through a flap and receive a flap back on the nose! That's what happened to mine, and they refused to use it too.
We ditched the dog flap, and we bought a Plexidor dog door, which is one of the best things we've ever bought.
They open like a saloon door in the old cowboy films. 2 doors, which the dog or cat just walks through. They are quiet, draught proof, weatherproof and see through. You can fit them into doors, walls etc.
Our youngest puppy taught herself to use it within 2 weeks, just by watching the older dogs bombing in and out. Visiting dogs who have never seen one before, go straight through it.
We got ours from Crufts, but if you type Plexidor in the search option, the address to get one by mail order will come up.
