I gave Taz her dinner the other evening and just as I did a flea jumped onto my arm. Aaargh. I managed to squish it, and immediately gave Taz a dose of spot-on. Earlier in the day I had given her a bath as we had been out on a particularly muddy walk through long grass. Probably where the flea came from. Any way a day or two later I noticed a lump in the middle of her back. I thought it could be a tick at first, but it looked more like a spot with some puss in it. I then noticed quite a few of these, loads in fact on the back of her neck underneath her collar and another two on her neck above her chest. Anyway her skin in these two places now is really scabby and flakey, could it be a reaction to flea bites? I am pretty sure it isn't a reaction to the spot-on as the dose went inbetween her shoulders and on her back but at the base of her tail, neither of these areas are scabby. Anyone got any ideas please. I am frantic now as she is entered into her first show in 6 weeks and her coat doesn't look great right now.

Hi Jaffa
Sorry I can't help with the answer, but I'm sure other Champdoggers will. I just wanted to ask which show you are enterered into ( or at least Taz is!) Wish you loads of luck!
Do you go to ringcraft, obedience or both? I'm going to both at the moment. I love the obedience but I'm not over keen on the ringcraft. I'll give it one more week and if I still don't enjoy it I'll look elsewhere. I'm really enjoying Lola. So far ( I know it's early days) she's easier going than my previous Dobe Sophie. She's full of beans but also a bit calmer and more obedient so far!!! :)
I know you've already told me, can you remind me of Taz's kennel name then i can look for your result. Loads of luck :D
Anne
PS - Have you found the 'stacking' easy? I can not get Lola to stand still long enough to place her legs. If i use a treat, she's even worse :D

Hi Anne,
Glad to hear you are having fun with your puppy. I have taken Taz to obedience classes, she did really well. We haven't gone to any ringcraft classes, though I am trying at home myself. I am having the same problem, getting her to stand still, and like Lola if I have a treat in my hand she goes daft to get it out from my fingers. I have entered her in the Dobermann minor puppy and the minor puppy for any breed at Darlington Show. There is a dobermann show the next day at Redcar which I think I will enter her in too. Her kennel name is Ourouse Sunrise. She is giving me the runaround a bit now and we have had to resort to securing her in the garden rather than letting her have the full run of it. She was destroying too many plants. However, as soon as she is on the lead she is very well behaved. Thats something at least:D I'll let you know how we get on in the dog show.

What is it with Dobes and gardening?? :D Lola is fascinated with digging, so far it isn't a problem as she digs in newly dug areas. She also does her pee and poo in the borders which is quite convenient. I'm not sure how to stop her! I have told her NO and used a water spray which seems quite effective. The only problem is, she isn't always supervised in the garden. I may have to partition the garden! Is Taz related to Luke Skywalker? I've seen him, he is a lovely boy.
Good luck and I'll check out the results.

Hi Anne
Yes Luke Skywalker is her dad. You're right he is lovely. He is also entered into Darlington Show in September and his breeders are coming up and will stay with us for the weekend which will be nice. Thanks for the interest in Taz, let me know how Lola gets on with her training. Do you have any photographs you could send me, I'd love to see her?
