Found a tick in my dogs ear today and tried smothering it with vaseline but in the end stabbed it with a hot needle and twisted it out. It looks ok now but I just want to make sure I did the correct thing. I read the posts on ticks first and done as it said but you do worry about your little boys and girls.

If you got the head out and it looks ok now, I would think it's ok.
