yes that did not work either. I am just running trend pc cillin virus check It has picked up a kakworm virus. Could that be anything to do with it. Also does anyone know i, should your virus checker not pick up things as they arrive, rather than wait for you to run the check. we used to have norton antivirus and that did it.

I use Norton Anti virus and it scans by emails as they arrive, there picking up any viruses as they arrive and it quarentines them so they can not damage the pc.
I would always expect an anti virus to scan on arrival then I have a weekly system scan as well as a double check.
Another way to delete:
Left click the message in the inbox and drag to the delete items folder on the left hand pane - let go once 'Deleted Items' is highlighted.
HTH :)

Do you not have to download updates regularly for all anti-virus software....? :)

Noton Antivirus is undoubtly the best for residential use. However I would not recommend running two anti-virus programs at anyone time (such as Star) as they can interact with one another, which is undesirable to say the least.
Pc-cillin is a run of the mill anti-virus program that is usually shipped with most mainstream motherboards. It would be well advised to disable this program in ‘msconfig’ thus allowing Norton to work to its full potential. The same is true if you have both McAfee and Norton running – use only one.
With Norton ensure you enable “Live update” as this will keep you up to date with all the virus definitions automatically. (Except Norton Antivirus 2001 : Live update sometimes becomes ‘lazy’)

Ok for the complete thickies on this board how do I delete PC cillin? I had a virus a while ago and PC cillin didn't detect it, so I have AVG installed and it picked up 59 infected files but now I can't click links that might come through on my emails in Outlook Express and everytime I switch on it wants me to install PC cillin through browsing through various files...I just want PC cillin out now.

you could also use the find files in the start menu, we had to do that and delete them all, it's amazing what get's left behenid even after you deleted a programme.
