Just bought a lovely 8 week old yellow Lab, Julie and would like to know if anyone could tell me if you can give a puppy of 8 weeks a bath and if so what would be best shampoo to use.
If not, when could she start being bathed please.

There shouldn't be any harm in bathing your puppy if he/she needs it. Use a gentle shampoo for puppies or use a baby shampoo, for human babies. They are very mild and don't sting eyes if you did happen to get too close. Just make sure he/she is thoroughly dried off before going out, unless of course its a lovely hot day!! But be warned they love to roll in muck after being bathed, so be alert!!!
I know of a few breeders who bath their puppies the day they are going off to their new owners.

HI I would use a puppy shampoo rather than a human one. If she has never had a bath its a good idea to give her one or two while she is a small puppy so she gets used to it. But dont bath on a regular basis - there is no need. Only bath her if she gets stinky or rolls in somethng awful which wont come out with water. A rub with a damp flannel to freshen her up every now and again will keep her dust and scurf free. Dogs are not really designed to be bathed, so only do it when you have to.
