Topic Dog Boards / Health / Advice about my new puppy...

I collected my new Basset puppy at the weekend and I just have a few niggling worries that I hope someone can help me with. After going through her paperwork, I discovered that she was 20 weeks old (born 10th March), not 13 as I had been told over the phone. Not a big problem in it's self, but according to her vaccination card, she had her 1st set of Jabs on 15th May (9 1/2 weeks) and hadn't been given her second set of vacs. I had them done on Saturday, but that is nearly 10 weeks between jabs. I believe that the only other animals she has been in contact with during this time is her siblings and a doby who has been vaccinated. What possible problems should I look out for in the short term and was I completely mad buying her in the first place? The vet gave her a thorough check up and said that as far as he was concerned she was a healthy happy puppy, but I am still worried. I'm hoping I haven't been too daft as she is the happiest and most lovable puppy I have ever met. Any advice will be greatfully received!

Did you inform the vet ? I presume so . If he was happy with the second vaccination I wouldn't worry. There maybe somebody along in a bit who has more experience of the timescales involved inbetween vaccinations if I have got this wrong.

However I would contact your breeder again and ask why the discrepancy. This should not have happened and could well have put your puppy in danger and also they have sold you something other than what was adviced. It sort of rings a larm bells and I would investigate a little further.
