We have a Border Collie puppy, 14 wks, and have a few questions. Firstly, at what age should we start taking her out for formal walks? She has had all her jabs. When we do take her out for walks (a little every day) she pulls relentlesly. Any ideas how to stop this? Whenever a car goes past, especially when she is on a lead, she starts chasing it. Can we stop this?

Any ideas appreciated
Thanks
Bonnie

Hiya
She can start going on for walks 2 weeks after her second vaccination. (pressumably she can go out now... assuming she began her vacc's at 8 weeks)
Did you start lead training when you got her? It is a good idea to get the dog used to walking on the lead in the garden as soon as you get her home so she is used to it.
When she pulls, stop walking, make her sit and only move off again when you are ready..she will learn that pulling doesnt achieve anything.
Good luck.

You should also consider joining an obedience club in your area, where you will be taught the techniques to teach your dog to walk nicely on the lead & also to curb the chase instinct that all border collies have to some degree
