Hi, we have 15 week old Husky pup and have been taking him out for walks three times a day for two weeks now. The problem is he will not go to the toilet whilst we are out despite repeatedly telling him to "be a good boy", he always waits until we are back home, to use the garden or sometimes in the car. We bought him an extension lead to see if this would help as he was on a short lead but it didnt. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance
Nicky

Nicky - my dane won't go out on a walk - and I prefer it that way...no carrying bags of it around with me, or worrying about where he's going to choose to do it!! Its easier to pick up in the garden and dispose of. Your pup may start to do it out of the garden as he matures and gains confidence, but, I haven't encouraged Willis and we are both happy the way things are! :) BTW - he will go if we go on holiday - but it took him till he was desperate ;)

My pup is the same - he's 17 weeks old, and doesn't realise he can go to the loo while out on walks. He holds it in and waits til we get home, and then runs out in the garden quick! :) I prefer it that way too, its much easier for me.

I would actually consider that an advantage! It is not the most enjoyable thing to have to walk along the road with a bag of dog poo, as often there are no convenient bins to put it in.

I have the opposite problem with two of mine, in that they will need to go within a few minutes of starting a walk, even though the door to the garden is open all th4e time in fine weather.
