Took my Poodle puppy to the vets yesterday because she is scratching constantly, the vet asked the usual questions when had it started had she been protected against fleas etc she then stuck some of her fur to some sellotape & looked at it under a microscope & found nothing ,at the end of the consultation she admitted but not in so many words that she had no idea why she is so itchy which is fair enough I was'nt surpised because I know the resons could be hard to pinpoint & I knew this before I took her, her only advise was to use a really mild shampoo which of course she sold ,me my moan is she charged me £ 48 including the price of the shampoo & V A T I think this is A bit steep for basically saying I'hav'nt a clue whats wrong whith your dog my fiend said I should have took her to her & she could have told me the same thing for A tenner what do you lot think? anyway I feel a lot better for getting it off my chest cheers Pawla

I took my pup to the vet a couple of weeks ago because he had shown signs of a possible blockage, however on the day I took him he suddenly picked up, the vet looked at him, checked him over and said he probably just had an upset stomach which had now sorted itself out. He charged me nothing and he knows the dog is insured so could have charged me what he wanted really :-)

I would say your vet is a bit expensive, normally an initial consultation is around £16 so surely the shampoo didn't cost £32 unless she's charging for the sellotape and use of her microscope as well !! Greedy so and so :-(

I took my bitch a few months ago to see whether she would be fit enough to have a litter at the age of 8 for the kennel club. He didn't check her heart or anything just had a quick feel typed a letter on the comp. (which took 2 weeks to arrive) and charged me nearly £40.

I shouldn't complain though because my application was accepted and she now has 6 beautiful pups.
