Was just wondering... Is every single kennel affix different? Or can the same kennel affix be used for different breeds/different breeders?
I am asking as I sometimes do a search on google to see if any of my pup's relatives are on the internet. His affix is Kenmilltri, and I quite often find links to Kenmilltri dogs that aren't boxers, so does this mean that there is just one Kenmilltri affix, which is a kennel that breeds lots of different types of dogs, or that there are loads of kennels with the affix Kenmilltri?
Thanks!

If a breeder has an affix they can then use it with all their breeds. Only that person is allowed to use the affix, so if there are Kenmilltri dogs that aren't boxers, they will still have been bred by the same person (or partnrship).

Thanks for that, you have helped me to understand.
One more thing... :) I got my pup from a lady in Surrey, who had a couple of boxers - I saw mum in the flesh, and she showed me the photo of the dad. On the pedigree, neither the mum or the dad have an affix, but my pup does. I am actually more confused now than ever! I only saw boxers there, so where would all the other breeds be? I hvae found a website for a lab that is a Kenmilltri, and also the show report sites quite often have a staffy in the news that is a Kenmilltri. I don't understand :(

An affix is allocated to a person, not a breed so if a person breeds more than one type of dog then the affix could be used for all. Only one person should be allowed to use an affix (Unless in is held in partnership of course.)

The Kennel Club also use a 'Ken....' affix when choosing names for pups on behalf of the breeder.
Have a look at this discussion:

Thanks for that link, it's now (finally) all clear in my head :) I had no idea that the Kennel Club did this.

I think that you'll find that Ken-milltri is an affix that the Kennel Club use if the breeder doesn't have their own affix! Each year they use a different name, always starting with Ken ..... So it's the one exception to the usual rule, although I've never quite understood why they give it so some puppies and not others.

Ah, NOW I understand :) Thankyou! :)
There is a box on the application form that you have to tick if you don't want the KC to choose a name if your first or second choices are not available.
Some people appear to deliberatly choose names that will attract the Ken..... name as I suppose they think it looks like an affix. Anyone who does any research is more likely to think it looks like someone who can't be bothered to name their pups properly and make you wonder what else they skimp on?!?!
