Hi, we are getting a springer spanial in september and have two cats right now and I am wondering if anyone knows if the two would be compatiable. the springer will be a puppy. Thanks kelly

I've got a springer, gwp and 3 pointers who all get on with 2 cats. The youngest pointer, 5 months, is still at the interested stage but mine have always just got bored with the cats.

We've got a springer and two cats, when we got the springer she was half the size of the cats now she towers over them but they still boss her around, the boy cat will play with her and sleep with her in her bed but the other cat, the girl will have no truck with her, and the springer gives her a wide berth at all times, they soon sort a status quo out. :)

all the best

Theres no reason at all why they shouldn't all get on very nicely thank you :)

You may have to restrain the pup a few times at first, but it will soon catch on. Particularly when the cats say "no thanks" to being pestered. A few days with the pup seperated from the cats by a baby gate should work nicely as the cats can come and go as they please, but puppy will have to stay put.

Friends of mine find that their cat now brings in live quarry and drops it for the spaniel to retrieve.

Enjoy
