After reading a post about tripe not so long ago we decided to try it out ( well for Gus obviously , not for us :D )
He absolutely ADORES it . Goes potty when we are trying to put down his dish and eats every last bit. The only thing is its soooo disgusting to cut up !!! :(
I have heard mention of frozen tripe already cut up into small pieces - does anyone know where I could buy this ??

We prefer to buy tripe in frozen blocks rather than free-flow (pieces) tripe. They weigh just under 500g. Not sure which breed you have, but we just defrost a block in a old ice cream container and when we are ready to feed, just mix biscuit in with it. Very simple and not to smelly. You can buy this at most pet shops.

Is that the "Royal We" you use, Admin? Are you the Queen?

Not sure of the correct amount for your dog Lel. You could try feeding a whole block and then adjust it accordingly to how much weight they gain/lose? Or maybe someone with your breed can recommend a quantity. Tripe does put weight on, so you will probably find that you are adjusting it week by week anyway. Which mixer do you use?

LOL. No, one is not royalty. One just gets in the habit of saying we :D

I have used free flow tripe, chicken and beef .Brought it from Pets at home and the dogs all love it.I find freeflow more convenient since you can defrost the amount you need and it also defrosts faster!!

I think I would prefer freeflow too - as I only want to add a little now and again to his complete food .
Do you happen to know any other stockists as we dont have a Pets at HOme by us.
By the way is any one better than the other ( Beef/lamb etc) or are they all the same ? Just still wary about mad cow I suppose

Hi lel,

We use AMP prize choice freeflow frozen meats. They will deliver to you if the order is over £35 or they will tell you where the closest stockist is to where you live. not sure how to do links but it is prizechoice.co.uk.

Lel if you are still travelling to Speke daily, go to Hunts Cross (McDonalds/Asda) the Pet store there (turn left as you go in) has a good range of AMP stuff.

Ditto what Admin have said, Tripe is excellent for them.

Bambers is very good I think it is just over the 500g, it is not as smelly as some.

Red castles delivery to the door if you are in Scotland.

prizechoice also does it and this is avaliable in blocks at local pet shops frozen.

Hope this helps

Don't know what area you are in but i use a company called Berriewoods, they are based in Essex, but do deliver to lots of other areas, I'm in Surrey.
If you give them a ring Tel: 01787 238003, they can tell you if they cover your area and send you their brochure. They sell everything from food, kibble food to bowls, cages, shampoos etc.
They are very good.
Karen.
