I wonder if anyone can give me some advise on where to position your dog when travelling in the car?
My boyfriend are picking up a Rottweiler puppy on Friday and in prepation have read a number of books and internet sites for information. I have read that for puppy's first journey in the car you should place him where he will normally be expected to travel as he will not be happy if he is used to travelling in the front and then gets downgraded to the back when there is someone else in the car! Any advice?

Depends how long a journey you have, how fretful your puppy is, do you have room for a crate etc etc.
I brought both my boys home on my knee on a towel with lots of paper and towels for any accidents. Neither cried, was sick or upset in anyway. Since then the have travelled where I want them too and never on my knee.
The first trip home won't make a rod for your back - more than that and you are on the way to. The same applies to most other things you do with your puppy, where he sleeps at night, how he is to walk, asking for food from the table.
Start as you mean to go on once you are home and things will go better. If you let him off with this that and the other just coz he's a cutie:D he'll soon be a big soft brute who'll take up the whole of the back seat of the car, the whole of the bed and send the table flying across the room by resting his paws on it.:D
