We got our Jack Russell about 3 months ago from a rescue center. We all think she is about 18 months old. She had problems with submissive weeing and with her confidence after whatever abuse she suffered before we got her. The submissive weeing is gone now, and she is completely adjusted to the house, very affectionate and tearing around like a typical JRT!
During the day she has the run of the utility room and kitchen. But at night she just has the utility room with papers. We did this because it is too dificult to clean up the surfaces in the kitchen (the utility is lino), also it marks a difference between day and night. She has never soiled the house during the day, she must have been house trained in her last house. During the day, the longest she is left alone is four hours at a time, but we can be home quite often.
For the first six weeks she never did anything, probably too terrified, but it showed that she can hold her bladder all night. Then she spent another 3 weeks banging at the door, and weeing on the paper/floor. Patience paid off and she has stopped banging on the door. However, she has moved on to weeing her bed. I know this is unusual, but she still seems to sleep on it.
How do we go about stopping this?
