I have an 18 week old cocker spaniel. The last few weeks she has developed several spots on her tummy. The spots are small blisters filled with a yellow pus and are mainly located on her tummy between her back legs. (being a pup its where the hair has not yet grown) She was frontlined about 6 weeks ago. Friends have suggested that it may be due to the hot weather and the fact that she runs in long grass near the house. It was also suggested that she may have egg allergy (3 eggs per week). Does any body have any suggestions as to what it might be and how I can treat them.

Many thanks

Dylan (5 months old yesterday  ) has got spots on his inner thighs as well. I informally showed them to the vet last week. He said that he likens it to acne in humans. It's an adolescent thing that he should grow out of. They don't seem to be bothering Dylan, so I'm not too worried. The vet said that if they got worse, I could take him in and get some antibiotic to clear them up.

My 13 week old Cocker Spaniel also has these spots (lumps and blackheads). My vet said it's like spots on children and teenagers and to do nothing unless they become infected, in which case Antibiotics should clear it.

Hi,

You could try washing it daily with coal tar soap (keep her own flannel and make sure you rinse and dry thoroughly afterwards) - cheap and cheerful, and seems to work on facial acne on Danes.
