Hi there
Archie is an 18 week old Lab and very greedy with it. We feed him a complete food 4 times a day and we were wondering when to reduce the amount of times to twice a day. He shows no signs of wanting to drop a feed and trots into the kitchen like clockwork when his food is due and waits expectantly for the bowl to be put down for him. If we don't give it to him he walks between us and where his bowl goes until we get the message!!!
Thanks

Be guided by his condition/weight. Its really important not to overfeed him so that he becomes fat = Labs are so prone to it, and have buckets for stomachs - most would eat til they burst given the opportunity. Large breed puppy leg joints while growing are so vunerable - if they are allowed to get overweight and/or they are over exersised, joints will suffer and it can cause long term problems. By 18 weeks I would have thought 3 times day would be fine, personally, and then down to 2 meals at about 12 months old. You can give him the same amount of food, if he is the right weight, just divide it into 3 meals instead of 4 if you want to, as feeding 4 times day a can be inconvenient if you are out and about with him. Labs are masters at "emotional blackmail" when it comes to food!!! Dont you just love em!! :-)

YOu pup should be on 3 feeds a day now and then reduce to two feeds at 6months and either keep to two feeds or reduce to one feed between 1-2yrs old.
I have my 14 week pup on 3 feeds and my 6 yrold on one feed, both doing grand
