Hi Im interested in getting a bulldog sometime in the future and would like to go see a few shows so that 1) I can see them being shown and 2) Speak to some people 'in the know'.

How do I find out where and when they are? Is there shows just for bulldogs or are they general?

Any help would be great. Thanks

Kerri

Where are you? This will help us find shows that might help you. Another option is to find out club secretary contacts for the breed as they'll know good shows for you to go to. Leeds Champ show is coming up weekend after this - but might be too far for you.
WWW.highampress.co.uk has the schedule so you'd be able to see when bullies are on. It also lists other champ shows too.

Thanks for your help.
Im going to take a day out and come along, Leeds isnt far from me. What time does it all start? (I dont want to miss them!) Its says something about 7am but thats when the dogs get there right? Or do I need to be getting up in the middle of the night too?

Kerri
this is what we did before we started showing - visited a few shows to get *feel* of what its all about . Have a look at the dogs and see what they are like. Then you get an idea of whether its for you or not .
There are lots of ups and downs with showing but when you win its a brilliant feeling :D
Plus you get to meet lots of people too :)
Good luck

Thanks lel, its a bit daunting at the moment everyone else seems to know what they are doing. Ive never been to a show so Im going to the leeds champ show next weekend to see what its all like. Whats the polite thing to do at these events? Will it be polite to simply go and chat to people showing? Id really like to gain some insight from it all!

Ive always had dogs and dreamt about having a bulldog for years. As Ive never been to a show Im not sure I want to show him/her if when I get one so Im going to do all my homework before I even get him. Everyone here has been so helpful :)

Have a look around and see whats happening - how the dogs are stood , what the judge does etc .
I'm sure if you approach anybody and explain you are new to all this etc they will love to help out . Many people love to chat about their favourite breed :D I know I do .
When you get pup - pop along to ringcraft and you will pick up lots of valuable infrmation . We knew no one wo showed except for our breeder but we popped along to shows and saw what was happening . You get to know lots of people - both new like yourself and the experienced *done it for years* crew and they can offer you loads of help
Good luck :D
